The TVH.4501 is a thermostatic valve with .75'' NPT connection and two inlets for hot and cold water separately and 3 outputs with integral volume control functionality. The valve has a flow rate of 13.0 GPM at 60 PSI. Supply Stops - There are two safety stops at each water inlet to prevent water flow in case of installation and repairs. Handle Operation - The middle handle is used to control temperature of water flowing through the 2 outlets. This product has three outputs and 2 outputs can be activated simultaneously as follows: Top Handle - Position 1- Output 1 activeTop Handle - Position 2- Output 2 activeTop Handle - Position OFF- Output 1 and 2 deactivatedBottom Handle - Position ON- Output 3 activeBottom Handle - Position OFF- Output 3 deactivated It is important to note that Outputs 1 and 2 cannot be activated simultaneously but outputs 1 and 3 can be activated simultaneously and also outputs 2 and 3 can be activated simultaneously. As the valve is installed, care should be taken to maintain proper distance from the back of the valve to the surface of finished tile which should be between 2.77'' and 3.44''. Also, the valve must be installed vertical and not at an angle. In case, a tile is thicker or wall is deep, extensions are used for elongating both handles of the valve to ensure proper setting of the trim (length of extensions for TVH.4501 valve is 1.40'' inches). Extension kits comprises of thermostatic handle extension, which can be ordered separately in chrome, brushed nickel or other special finishes. Cut Out Dimensions - The cut out in wall should be 8.81'' X 4.44'' inches which is properly covered by the trim plate. This will ensure that the trim plate will cover the cut out hole in the wall. Trims - The trim comprises of well finished trim plate and handle knobs. The trim plate is used to cover the wall and has markings for ON/OFF, 1/2/OFF and HOT/COLD for temperature control handle and volume control handles. Over the temperature control knob, is an anti-scald temperature stop ring which is a safety feature in this thermostatic value. With the help of this ring, temperature of the water is regulated. Covering this ring is the handle knob which has a push button on the side. To adjust the water temperature, one needs to press this button and move the handle to hot or cold direction. Without pressing it, the user will not be able to rotate the handle to the full HOT position as an anti-scald prevention mechanism. The anti-scald temperature stop ring should be fitted tightly over the valve (tapping using a rubber mallet might be required during installation) for it to function properly. Any 4501 series trim can be used with this valve. Depending upon the shower model, trims can be of different shape and size, varying from square to circular shower handles.
